Single Second Weekend with The Misfits

The Misfits came to Regina last night, it was a great fun road trip!
It was nice to finally see/hear Misfits songs performed live, even without Danzig or Graves. Although I would have much preferred either of them to Jerry, oh well, like I said it was nice to hear the songs live.

They wouldn't let me bring my camera in.

Got some new cd's for the drive to Regina

SLAYER!

Horse The Band

We didn't get home till around 4a.m., this is how I was thinking by that time.

But it was worth it.

Hell-Week Horrorpunk!

HALLOWEEN EDITION!!! Horrorpunk has had a HUGE influence on our lives here at Single Second. This might turn out to be a long post but I'm going to try to do a brief history of my love with Horrorpunk.

It obviously starts with my favourite band of all time... The Misfits. There are so many songs I could have picked. Leave a comment and tell us your favourite Misfits song.

Next band would have to be AFI. Although never really a horrorpunk band, they were most definitely influenced by The Misfits. Here's them covering Demonomania, and pretty much their best song.

After being obsessed with those two bands I started looking everywhere all over the internet for any band that was horror related. Here are SOME of the best ones I've found.

You would be hard pressed to find a better crooner out there than Nim Vind.

I actually have a tattoo inspired by some of the art in Calabrese's album 13 Halloweens.

Zombeast. Obviously heavily Samhain influenced.

I was always uninterested in these guys based on their name, but once I gave them a listen I was hooked.

And lastly, not as much of a horrorpunk band as the rest, but easily one of my favourite bands ever, Cancerslug blurs the lines between punk, doom, horror, folk and even metal at times.

Bonus: SAMHAIN

This one is for all you Elvis fans out there. Best Elvis cover ever.

Sublime reunion.

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Sublime, and in particular Bradley. So naturally the idea of a Sublime reunion seems very weird to me. I understand that there were 3 people involved in Sublime and it wasn't all Bradley. I also understand that fans would like to hear the songs live and even the possibility of a new album. But personally, I have to stand on the side that believes that this band should not be considered "Sublime". For the same reason that The Misfits should not have been called "The Misfits" once Danzig left. And for the same reason that there could never be another "Nirvana" without Cobain. I'll admit that the second incarnation of The Misfits is one of my favorite bands, and that this new Sublime singer is awesome and they sound great live. I just don't think that it's right. The other band members obviously have their owns thoughts and at the end of the day, they knew Bradley, something I could never say, and they would be the best judges of how he would interpret the new Sublime. I know if the ever tour and come near me, I'll be going, but it could never be the same.

Here's a link to a bunch of videos of their first live show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TgUhc627-I&feature=related

And a video of the new singer doing his rendition of T.I.'s "Whatever you like"
