Two of my favorite brands just released their Fall/Winter collections, Actual Pain and Raised by Wolves. These releases solidify them at the top of "streetwear", in my opinion. Both of these releases inspire me to be a lot more liberal with future designs and to let out what I really want people to see from Single Second. It would be an honor to have the chance to work with either brand in the future. Speaking of which, the two of them worked on a collab for Raised by Wolves' line. The heather colorway is one of my favorite tees to come out in a long time. Check out my favorites from both lines below.

Black Valor
We bear the bloodline of the conqueror
Behold this war-scarred coat of arms
Weathered and worn are we
But with an eye ajar we sleep with blade in hand
We're waiting for the call
Join us! Black valor's on our side
Striking with satanic force we'll crush their fabled Christ
Decimated by a whirlwind of insufferable attacks
Impenetratable black phalanx of our unblessed spear and shield
We march upon the enemy with hate, with hate
On this day of victory christian blood will soak these battlefields
The tidings of a war infernal
Destruction of all angelic life
To bear the mark of the pentagram circle reviled
Armageddon's drawing nearer
On the coattails of the end we'll ride
Of death we hath no fear,
Hails! black valor's on our side!
Boundless is unholiness iniquitous our pride
Each man a god unto himself spirit never to die
To the almighty one, unholy bearer of horns
Empower me, flow through my veins
And carry me in war
To the unwavering devoted to the dark
I drink these wines on majesty to you
Do you show the standard of sixhundred sixty sixth
Will your flesh withstand the dawning of apocalypse
Does your will it guide the spear that pierced the martyr's ribs
We will not rest till this rotten planet's black - as pitch
The tidings of a war infernal
Destruction of all angelic life
To bear the mark of the pentagram circle reviled
Brothers! black valor's on our side!
Striking with satanic force we'll crush their fabled Christ
Unhallowed Armageddon's drawing near
Boundless is unholiness of death we hath no fear

Fucked Up!
The Polaris Music Prize is given to the musical act from Canada who makes the best complete album, It's much like the Mercury prize in the UK. It's the type of thing that usually goes to singer/songwriter accoustical types who sing about loneliness and heartache. Fortunately sometimes the panel who gives out the prize gets it right. The winners of the 2009 prize is the band Fucked Up, whom are a hardcore act from Toronto. Before this recognition outside of their music they were most known for wreaking havoc at MTV Canada during live apperances. The album the won with "The Chemistry of Common Life" was given great critical praiseon it's release but, after it was choosen for the Polaris prize it was greatly frowned upon by most people in the Canadian artist community. The winner receives $20 000 and in an interview with Jian Gomeshi, on his CBC radio show "Q" they said they would use the money to help record a charity christmas album and also to raise awarness of the great number of native women who go missing in Canada.

What the HUF!
Sometimes a brand releases something that will catch my eye (most of the time its denim, or super crazy cut n sew), then I say I want it...and most of the time I dont get it, its pretty shitty how this cycle works. Rarely does this happen with hats, I just like hats for the most part, then HUF came along and previewed this LA hat. So simple and clean! Holy Shit!
This hat, the black one (in my eyes) is hands down the nicest hat any brand has ever released...ever! and yes, I want it very badly. But of course I have to live way up north in Canada, and this hat is exclusive to HUFs Los Angeles store, damn!!
If any one in or around the LA area reads this, and feels like doing me a huge favor, I will pay you back and through in some free goodies! Go down to:
HUF LA
410 N. Fairfax Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90036

I wear a 7-1/2.
Best hat ever!

Crash Love
AFI used to be one of the most important bands in my life. Until "decemberunderground" and the all white stage shows, oh and Davey Havok turning into a 14 year old girl. That being said, I'm still interested in everything they do, because if nothing else, they continue to progress as a band. They're previewing their upcoming album "Crash Love" on their myspace page for the next 2 days. I just went through the track list and I'm kinda pissed off that they didn't include "Fainting Spells", a song that I thought gave this album hope. I just breezed through the whole thing and it's kinda boring. Is it too much to ask for a couple hardcore songs? I guess so. Oh god Davey, you have been hurt, you have been hurt by somebody, that much is clear, who hurt you? who hurt you? who hurt you?

Obfuscation
Between The Buried and Me have released a full track from their upcoming album "The Great Misdirect" called "Obfuscation". And WOW, what a song. I didn't time it but I had to check like 3 times to see if it was still the same song. It's incredible, that's all I can say, and the follow up to "Colors" is looking to be as good or better. See for yourself.
Raised By Wolves F/W Sneak Peek
I actually saw this a while ago but since it's making its rounds and Pete is a cool guy and we really like Raised By Wolves, I thought I'd share it here too. Two of the shirts shown are part of their Fall/Winter collection. Apparently both are collabs as well. I'd put money on the one on the left being with Actual Pain. I have a pretty good idea who the other one is with as well but I won't say anything, people will be surprised.

Half Week Hardcore
While browsing world moves fast I've just come across this exciting new feature on VIMBY called Get In The Van.
There's not much more information then that, but it looks like the first episode/series will feature Terror. I'll definitely stay tuned to this.
If you haven't ever seen it. Here's our Terror tribute shirt. Which you can purchase from our store here. I guess since it's just a Terror kinda day, here are a few of my favorite of their songs.
Vimby presents Get in the Van, an original series that tracks one week with some of the biggest hardcore bands in the country.

Single Second Fall/Winter 2009
Single Second's Fall/Winter release is a mixture of nostalgic references and darker, more meaningful graphics. We've kept the line fun with our Zombie character flips but have also looked at things such as literature and alchemy to bring forth some of our more personal interests. We've made available a few more color choices this season along with our favorite and staple black t-shirts. As always, the line is very limited in numbers and available through our online store and a few other retailers in North America.

Deflorate
The new Black Dahlia Murder album "Deflorate" is available today. For the past 5 years this band has been at the top of my list and still gets constant plays on my itunes. By the sound of the 2 recently released songs "A Selection Unnatural" and "Necropolis" this album will be just as good or better than their previous efforts. Check out the new video for Necropolis below, then go buy the CD.

Album Review: 3 Inches of Blood - Here Waits Thy Doom
When I heard that the new 3 Inches of Blood album was out, obviously I got a little excited....because it's goddamn 3 Inches of Blood! If you dont know who they are, do your life a favor and go buy there albums, all of them, or at least listen to them on youtube HERE or HERE, I dont care as long as you are listening to them.
So I was reading Mishkas blog the other day, and My Pal the Crook did a review on this same album, after I read his review is when I went and bought it, in my mind after listening to it, what he said about it was perfect! I know no matter what I try to say, it will end up reading the same as his because after reading his I knew what to expect from the album and that is exactly what I got.
This is what My Pal the Crook said:
"My god, there nothing more satisfying then really well done Power Metal? It’s like the first sips of beer on a hot day of hard work.
But don’t you find it cheesy and silly?
Do you find Sci-Fi and/or Fantasy cheesy or silly? Wait… don’t answer that. But why is it musicians can write a billion of songs about breaking-up and being depressed but writing a few songs about witches, demons & Valhalla, set to some bitchin’ riffs is somehow silly to most music snobs!? I call it refreshing escapism… at least when it’s done right. And by god do 3 Inches of Blood do it oh so right.
Here Waits Thy Doom isn’t some revolutionary reinvention of Power Metal… In fact there were times I could have confused this for Manowar or Warlord. But then again that’s exactly how I view the band, as a loving homage to the glory days of NWOBHM and Power Metal, nothing more, nothing less. Here Waits Thy Doom is a step up from the 2007’s Fire Up the Blades as the band seem more inclined to bring things back to the Advance & Vanquish pace and focus on melody. As someone more than slightly disappointed with their last album, it’s a step backwards I’m more than willing to welcome.
As long as you’re not looking for a re-invention of the wheel and you’re fine with songs about fighters of snakes and epic journeys across ice glaciers you’re going to come away with a seriously fun album that once embraced will rarely lend you a dull moment as it barrels through it’s 11 tracks, and you down a beer for each one!"
Once you listen to this album you will understand what I mean.
So do yourself and 3 Inches of Blood a favor and go buy this album!

My roomates (my brother and his girlfriend) took a mini vacation, and I had to babysit/hang out with there dog for the 3 days, which I don't have a problem with at all, he's the best!

I am beyond pumped to see this movie when it comes out!

Triple Bogey
It's about time we spotlighted one of the coolest brands in Canada. Triple Bogey mixes street style fashion with golf inspired apparel. Undoubtedly one of the most original companies out there, they also bring a "masonesque" feeling of brotherhood and camaraderie to golfing that has seemed to have been lost lately.
Golf wasn’t always about improving your game. When it was first played, golf was about camaraderie between gentlemen. It was a man’s game played by members of clubs. It’s rules changed in the darkness of secret meetings for reasons unknown. Being a golfer back then wasn’t about the grandiose goal of breaking one hundred. It was about being part of something. A fraternity of skilled merchants and professionals who helped each other achieve their goals. A form of business pact, created while playing the game of golf.
Triple Bogey embraces this ideology of the game. Golf is about you and the company you keep. It’s not about some company’s equipment and their false promises of improvement. It’s about the men who sacrifice everything to get up at the earliest hour to play an ancient game, on a sculpted battlefield.
You are one of those golfers. You may not have the best clubs or equipment in your bag, but you make do, and you play. Always moving forward. Always coming closer…
They recently released their 2010 catalogue. Below are my favorite pieces.

Max Air
I'm not sure why, but I've never really been into shoes that much. Probably because all through high school I went through a pair a month skateboarding and eventually it got more annoying having new shoes than anything. A lot of people get into streetwear through sneaker collecting. My brother and I happened to get into it through skateboarding more than anything. I've never been very interested in any shoe companies other than skate shoe companies, es, dvs, lakai, circa, fallen. Being involved in streetwear there's really no way to ignore which shoes are coming out and what styles are popular and what not, nothing has ever really caught my eye until I started seeing the Air Max 90s. This last weekend my girlfriend and I were on a mini vacation in Edmonton and my feet were getting very sore walking around the massive West Edmonton Mall all day. We walked through a couple shoe stores and by looking at a few pairs of Air Max's they looked like they'd be way more comfortable than the old Fallens I was wearing at the time. The next day at Haven, they're having a shoe sale, so this has to be a sign right? I decided right then and there to jump into the premium Nike market and buy a couple pairs. Then, not 2 hours later, we found a nike outlet store and I bought one more pair. I don't think I'll ever start buying massive amounts of sneakers, or even start buying them to just collect them. I'm just really excited about being interested in shoes again. I'm already hunting for which ones will be my next pair. Check out what I picked up below.
I'll keep you posted on further purchases.
Note: I'm aware that the second ones aren't Air Max. But Air Max's are the ones I'm most interested in right now.
