Com Raid Interviews Andrew Lee

We posted an interview with Andrew Lee (Invisible Man, Bastard Squad, Commissary) a while ago when the I:M store in New York was opening. This feature interview goes a little further in depth with Andrew and gives a lot more insight into what drives his projects. Check it out.

Because The Kids Don't Play

I first found out about Bryan on a forum on hypebeast as an upcoming clothing line called Ideall. I was always impressed with his illustrator skills and was proud that he was a fellow Canadian. I've followed what he's been doing for a little while now and while I was impressed with his first bunch of Wholly's, "The Kids Don't Play" set is absolutely insane. I like to think that I'm creative and artistic, but seeing things like this makes me question that. It's good though, seeing someone being so blatantly creative just fuels me to push myself.

Half-Week Hardcore: Deathwish Edition

Single Second has a Deathwish problem! I've pretty much started to buy all of my music directly from Deathwish.com, every time I go to my local music store they just don't have the albums that are a little harder to find. Combine that with Deathwish's current summer sale, and I'm ready to spend some money.
This order included :
Cold World - Dedicated To Babies Who Came Feet First 12"
Integrity - Walpurgisnacht 7"
Narrows - Self Titled 7"
The Carrier - No Love Can Save Me 7"
Lewd Acts - Lung Patrol 7"
Narrows - New Distances CD
Converge - Unloved and Weeded Out CD
Learn - Life And... CD
Trash Talk - Plagues... Walking Disease CD
Modern Life Is War - My Love. My Way. CD
Lewd Acts - Dark Days CD
The Hope Conspiracy - Death Knows Your Name CD

Deathwish thoughtfully uploads all of their vinyl so that when you buy it you can download the songs from their website. I enjoy ripping them using my own USB turntable, a Numark TTUSB (coincidentally the same turntable Deathwish uses). Next order I make is going to have to have some Deathwish slipmats on it.

Im going to try to get to a few reviews soon. Cold World, Carpathian, Narrows and The Hope Conspiracy, so watch out for those in the near future.

Nike SB: Debacle... free

Simply Beautiful

Below is a video clip of the Tim Sylvia vs Ray Mercer fight. I titled this post Simply Beautiful because I god damn hate Tim Sylvia, and Mercer crushes him. I especially love when Tim kicks him, he says without any words "Boy... Imma fuck you up!"

Classic Skate Video Parts: Globe - Canvas

This is such an incredible find. I haven't seen this video since I lost the tape probably 9 years ago. For such a random video it ended up being one of my favorites of all time. Featuring Heath Kirchart, Guy Mariano, Gershon Mosely, Rodney Mullen, Mike York, Andrew Reynolds, Ryan Wilburn and Jeron Wilson, this movie takes place on a road trip in Australia. This video is really a documentary and not a skate video, maybe that's why it felt so important to me. A lot of the commentary has stayed with me all these years. If you've never seen the video or haven't seen it in a while, do yourself a favor and watch it.

Unsuspecting Horror

You can find these all over youtube. They're re-cut movie trailers of comedies or family movies to look like horror movies. Sometimes I wish that every movie ever made was a horror, now I can pretend that most of them are.

This first video was found at Albotas.

Flying Coffin Summer 09

While we're plugging other brands today. Flying Coffin has just released the first full preview of their summer line. Available online next Monday.

We obviously really like this brand and can only hope to reach the type of success they've seen in a little over 2 years of business. It's too bad there aren't any retailers near Saskatoon though.

Partly Cloudy

Ive read a few things about this short video today on the interweb, and how it is illegal to be on the internet, and how Disney is gonna flip when/if they find out it has leaked. Oh well, and since I cant get it to work, because I guess its not allowed in our country, here is the link to Russians RuTube to watch it. I advise you do because it may not last long, and it is a cool video.

Enjoy

Edit: Got it to work.

Eric Koston on Nike SB

I'm sure a lot of people called this one. Now it's official.
“Not only am I psyched to be a part of the great group of guys that makes up the Nike SB team, but I’m equally as excited to work with them creatively. I’m sure many people know that a lot of different Nike’s have been the inspiration for my shoe designs over the last 12 years, so I feel like a fucking kid in a candy store when it comes to this partnership between Nike and I.” - Eric Koston

Half Week Hardcore

This week I'm going to spotlight one of my favorite new websites. Hate5six.com Features live shows from a lot of really good hardcore and metal bands. The best thing about them is the video and sound quality. Unmatched by any video you'd find on youtube by a regular fan. The amount of time it would take to run a site like this is enormous and the fact that it's all free is just that much more incredible. The site runs on donations, so please give if you can.

Bane - Count Me Out & Swan Song (Swan Song is my favorite Bane song)

We Are The Nightmare

Here's some Death Metal* videos. Because I like Death metal*.

The Black Dahlia Murder - A Vulgar Picture

In Flames - Embody The Invisible

Arsis - We Are The Nightmare

Heaven Shall Burn - Endzeit

* I say Death Metal because I don't feel line trying to label things melodic death metal, or black death metal or brutal death metal or whatever. It's all Death Metal to me.

Lets do some Coffee

This morning when I got my cup of coffee (legal speed), I realized that I really enjoy coffee first thing in the morning, coffee wakes you up and gets you ready for the day.
So do these songs about coffee, so grab a nice cup of coffee and listen to these coffee songs about coffee!

Multiplayer Side Scrolling Super Mario Bros.

The latest Super Mario Bros. game has just been unveiled. You should know by now that the Mario Bros. series of games was a big part of our childhood. So obviously I'm excited to play the newest version that features multiplayer co-op gameplay. Check out some screen caps and a short video.

Half Week Hardcore

Deathwish is quickly becoming my favorite label. I love the fact that you can preview pretty much all of their releases on the website before you buy. I spend hours listening to samples over and over and exploring new bands. Here are a few that I've gotten really into lately.

Narrows - Gypsy Kids

Narrows - Chambered

Lewd Acts - Play Me Something That I Know

The Carrier - Wasted

Dog Pull Skateboarding

When you have a dog that is really strong and has a lot of energy you have to come up with ways of tiring it out so that they don't start destroying things every chance they get. My dog Cash is exactly that type of dog. The best methods of tiring him out so far have been: chasing a laser pointer (every dog owner should have a laser pointer), using a horse whip with a ball on the end (also known as a "flirt pole") and getting him together with another dog. While those are all excellent activities, they don't allow any real companionship between dog and owner. My good friend Evan recently built up a skateboard with some risers and big soft wheels for his dog to pull him around on and has been enjoying his dog pulling him around for the last couple weeks. I had Cash pull me before on my skateboard, but the speed he can run and my small hard wheels don't mix. This weekend I decided to go out and get a wider deck, some risers and some softer wheels and set up a deck specifically to have Cash pull me around, combining excellent exercise for him and my love of skateboarding.

Here we go.

I almost lost it on the speed wobbles.

Jason Adams "Miller High Life" Enjoi deck, Bones "filming" wheels and Independent Trucks.

Happy dog.

Trevor testing out the ride.

Tired dog.
