I'm Back

I've been away from the wired world since last Thursday. I could have brought my laptop with me, but when you see where I was, you'll understand why I decided to leave it at home.

Here's a good picture of where I was, Banff, Alberta. In the middle of the rocky mountains.

I got some time in on my snowboard.

I also made it to couple local shops. Rude Boys and UNLTD are the places to go in Banff.

Zombieland!

I want to watch it right now!

A very close runner up goes to Drag Me To Hell!

Best Video Game of 2009: Trevor

Hands down, without a doubt, Skate 2.
I bought a Playstation 3 just for this game because I heard it played slightly better than the Xbox 360 one.

I want Skate 3....now!

Half Week Hard Music: Best of 2009 Edition

I decided to do this post featuring bands from our best of picks.

Iron Age - Dispossessed

Mastodon - The Czar

The Black Dahlia Murder - Christ Deformed

Narrows - Chambered

Between The Buried And Me - Swim to the Moon

I know this song isn't off of The Chappell Show Vol. 2 but it was made by one of Single Second's biggest supporters so it had to go up.
Rasheed Chappell x When Giants Meet - The Intro

Best Shoes of 2009: Derek

This list will be blasphemy to about 90% of the people out there involved in streetwear. Oh well.

This year I started getting into Air Max's, I'm by no means a collector or anything, I just found that I like how they fit me and that they're extremely comfortable to walk in.
The best 2...

That's it for Nike.

Skate shoes are our shit at Single Second. We've both skateboarded since around 1995. I've had love affairs with a couple of brands, you couldn't tell me to buy a different shoe once I was stuck on a brand, until they all eventually started to suck for me (DC, DVS, Lakai, ES, Circa). I still kinda like Circa, but not very much anymore. But one brand that has been solid for me for quite a while now has been Fallen. I like the way pretty much every design fits, and I am partial to their use of a lot of black colorways. So here's a couple of my favorite skate shoes from this year, mostly Fallens.

Best T-Shirt of 2009: Derek

I've already posted this T-Shirt on our blog when it came out, but it is still by far the best in my opinion.

Raised By Wolves / Actual pain

I have the grey one, I think I might get the black one too.

That's pretty much it. I like other T-Shirts but since we've started Single Second, I haven't payed a lot of attention to what other brands are doing.

EDIT: How could I forget this one!?

Rogue Status - Humanity Is

My sentiments exactly. I haven't been able to find this one, somebody hook me up!

Best T-Shirt of 2009: Trevor

Sure, it would be easy to just pick a Single Second shirt (Chthonic Triad), but I wont.
I like t-shirts that are either weird, will offend people or will get people thinking, a combination of all 3 is obviously the best.
It is impossible to remember all of tees that came out in one year, so my best one is the one that I remembered the most and stuck in my head.

Actual Pain: Goathead

This shirt is all 3 of the above, it is weird, will offend some people, and will for sure get people thinking. I love it!

A very close runner up is.

Black Scale: Twin Towers

Guaranteed, this will offend some people and make people think/remember that day. I dont have to live in the US to appreciate this shirt.

Best Hat of 2009: Trevor

I know I made a post about this hat before, I said it then and I will say it now, this black LA hat, is the nicest hat any brand has ever released...ever!
I am not even putting any runners up or honorable mentions, this is it, only one!

Huf: Black LA hat!

I can't wait to see some new hats in 2010.

Best Album of 2009: Derek

Iron Age - The Sleeping Eye

Honorable mentions:

The Black Dahlia Murder - Deflorate

Narrows - New Distances

Rasheed Chappell - The Chappell Show Vol. 2

Best Album of 2009: Trevor

This year I am not going to make a list of my top 10 or even 5, I am just going to make random posts about my top 1. That's right only the best of the best, the best in my eyes anyways, I know a lot of people won't agree. Oh well.

Here is the first one, top CD/Album of 2009.

Mastodon: Crack The Skye

This album might be one of the greatest albums I have ever heard, I'm not kidding. Collectively, from my iPod, Work Computer, Home Computer and the CD, I guarantee you I have listened to this full album at least 200 times. There are days at work where I just have this on repeat, and its all I hear all day. I have listened to it a lot! and will continue to listen to it.

If you haven't heard it, do yourself a favor, go buy it, don't download it.

(runners up are The Black Dahlia Murder: Deflorate, and Between The Buried and Me: The Great Misdirect)

For the kids who need it the most.

We donated a bag full of goodies to Saskatoons Secret Santa. Secret Santa takes donations of all kinds, toys, cash...and now clothing! and on Christmas Day they deliver around 600 packages full of everything not so fortunate families will need to make there Christmas as happy as everyones!

We would have liked to donate more, but we are a little company that doesn't even have much ourselves.
Maybe next year and the following years we can donate more and more to keep Saskatoon families happy!
